“You guys carried the big nutrition guns for us on our fight against hunger in the village,” said Linda Lahr, Director for Agape Christian Mission in the Jacmel area of Haiti.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, some rural Haitians were having trouble getting to food. And when they did, they found the prices were too high—they couldn’t afford it. One village was particularly struggling, with some suffering from malnutrition. An Agape worker was attempting to transport food to this area when he was caught in an ambush on the road. That’s when Lahr called MAF for a flight.
“One village of 200, outside of Jacmel, was in need of a replenished bulk food supply,” said Lahr. “I also had some Plumpy’Sup cases for the children and elderly.”
The food supplements would help identify and treat those with acute malnutrition. Altogether, MAF carried 900 lbs. of food for Agape from Port-au-Prince to Jacmel—overcoming risky roads.
“I am not sure how this story is going to play out, but we are trusting God to make a way for us to keep the people as healthy as possible in such a difficult situation,” added Lahr. “Thank you for your help in the transport.”
